Important notice (prerequisites)
Using the app requires the purchase/ownership of a XamIoT SoundSense device, which itself requires an Internet connection via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Without a device, the app is inoperative. To purchase a device: https://xamiot.com/soundsense/.
As of today, using the app is free (no subscription), but this may evolve into a paid subscription.
Scope
This Policy applies to the mobile app, the associated API, the MQTT service, and push notifications. It does not apply to third-party sites/products.
Data we process
- Account: email, password (hashed), first/last name (optional), phone number (optional).
- Devices: UID/serial number, name, MQTT topic, status/last seen, firmware version.
- Measurements: xB index (0–100) + timestamp, no audio and no images.
- Rules/alerts: thresholds, sending history.
- Technical: server logs, IP addresses, identifiers required to deliver notifications (APNs), crash reports.
- Support: content of exchanges with customer support.
Privacy: SoundSense does not capture or store audio from conversations. It only measures and transmits a sound level index (xB).
Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)
- Service delivery (account, device pairing, display, alerts) — performance of a contract.
- Security/anti-abuse — legitimate interest.
- Customer support — performance of a contract.
- Push notifications — consent.
- Legal obligations — legal obligation.
Recipients / processors
- Hosting/Databases/MQTT: Iliad / France.
- Notifications: Apple APNs.
- Support: support@xamiot.com.
They act under our instructions, in compliance with the GDPR.
Transfers outside the EU
Governed by the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and, where necessary, additional measures.
Retention periods
- Account: for as long as the user remains active; then 36 months after the last login.
- Alert history: last 100 alerts and up to 12 months maximum.
- Support: 12 months.
Security
Encrypted traffic, access controls, encrypted backups, and security updates. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the physical security of your devices.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent (notifications).
Submit requests to support@xamiot.com. You may lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
Minors & informing occupants
The service is intended for adults. If installed in a dwelling, inform occupants that it is a sound level sensor (no audio recording).
Cookies & analytics
No cookies in the app. The website may use technical cookies and, subject to consent, audience measurement cookies.
Changes
We may update this Policy. For any material change, we will inform you via the app and/or by email.
