Important Reminder (Prerequisites)

Use of the app requires the purchase or ownership of a XamIoT SoundSense device, which requires an Internet connection via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Without the device, the app will not function. To purchase a device: https://xamiot.com/soundsense/.
Currently, the app is free to use (no subscription), but this may change to a paid subscription in the future.

Scope

This Policy applies to the mobile app, the associated API, the MQTT service, and push notifications. It does not apply to third-party websites or products.

Data Processed

  • Account: email, password (hashed), first name/last name (optional), phone number (optional).

  • Devices: UID/serial number, name, MQTT topic, status/last seen, firmware version.

  • Measurements: xB index (0–100) + timestamp, without audio or images.

  • Rules/alerts: thresholds, send history.

  • Technical: server logs, IP, identifiers required for notification delivery (APNs), crash reports.

  • Support: content of exchanges with support.

Privacy: SoundSense does not capture or record audio from conversations. The measurement is limited to a sound level index (xB).

Purposes and legal bases (GDPR)

  • Service provision (account, device pairing, display, alerts) — performance of the contract.

  • Security/anti-abuse — legitimate interest.

  • Customer support — performance of the contract.

  • Push notifications — consent.

  • Legal obligations — legal obligation.

Recipients / processors

  • Hosting/Databases/MQTT: Iliad / France.

  • Notifications: Apple APNs.

  • Support: support@xamiot.com.
    They act on instructions, in accordance with the GDPR.

Transfers outside the EU

Governed by the Standard Contractual Clauses and, if necessary, by additional measures.

Retention periods

  • Account: duration of use, then 36 months after the last login.

  • Alert history: Last 500 alerts and up to 90 days.

  • Support: 12 months.

Security

Data encryption, access control, encrypted backups, security updates. You are responsible for the confidentiality of your login credentials and physical access to your devices.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent (notifications).
Request to support@xamiot.com. Right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL.

Minors & informing occupants

Service intended for adults. If installing in a residence, inform occupants that this is a sound level sensor (without audio).

Cookies & audience measurement

No cookies in the app. The website may use technical cookies and, subject to consent, audience measurement cookies.

Changes

We may update this Policy. For any major changes, we will notify you via the app and/or email.
